Introducing a new, easier, and more predictable way to order locally raised, custom processed freezer pork! If you do not want to deal with cutting instructions and custom processing then check out our meat bundles! The price we charge is the maximum amount that you will pay Red 7 Ranch (R7R) directly for the animal. Customer will pay for the cost of processing and slaughter charge directly to the processing location when picking up the meat.

A rough all in ESTIMATE for a whole hog with a hanging weight of 200lbs including standard processing and slaughter charge is about $650. See details below for estimated amounts, yields, and examples. Please contact us with further questions.

Animal/slaughter charges:

Our animals typically get slaughtered around 290lbs live weight. A whole hog typically has a hanging weight of about 200lbs. The vast majority of our animals fall right around this number but a hanging weight for a whole can range from 170-220lbs. A whole hog with a hanging weight of 200lbs typically results in about 125-140lbs of meat in your freezer; this includes everything from bacon and sausage to roasts and steaks/chops. The amount of finished meat and types of cuts will fluctuate/change depending on the cuts you choose and the size of the animal accordingly. Our price per pound (based on hanging weight) for a whole hog is $1.75/lb. This results in a cost of $350 for the whole hog itself (not including slaughter or processing) which is to be paid in full to R7R.

Note: If animal has a hanging weight of LESS than 200lbs hanging weight then customer will be credited the difference at the rate of $1.75/lb hanging weight. If animal has a hanging weight of MORE than 200lbs customer will not owe R7R any additional amount directly but will pay the additional processing fees to processor (see processing section). Examples:

Hanging weight of 170lbs (less than 200lbs): 170lbs (hanging weight) x $1.75/lb = $297.50 Resulting in a credit to you of $52.50 from R7R . Processing charges are additional and are paid directly to the processor upon customer picking the meat up.

Hanging weight of 220lbs (greater than 200lbs): The total amount owed to R7R for the cost of the animal would remain at $350. Processing charges are additional and are paid directly to the processor upon customer picking the meat up.

Processing:

Processing and slaughter charge is NOT included in the amount owed/paid to Red 7 Ranch. Customer will determine and pay for processing and slaughter charge directly to processor. Basic pork processing costs approximately $.71/lb hanging weight and smoking/curing costs approx. $.96/lb hanging weight. The slaughter charge is approximately $80 for a whole hog. Customer will get a text or phone call directly from the processor approximately 1-4 business days after the slaughter date selected to gather cutting instructions. Meat will be processed and ready to pickup about 7-10 days after slaughter date selected. The processor will walk you through the selections over the phone; they do a great job with this and are very helpful so rest easy if you are new to this! Upon notification of processing completion customer will pickup the meat and pay processing/slaughter charge directly to the processor when picking up their order. Total amount for animal must be paid in full to R7R before meat can be picked up from processor. The estimates below will fluctuate based on how much meat you decide to get smoked and based on any other special cutting instructions you determine.

Estimated basic processing cost including slaughter charge for a 200lb whole hog is about $300.

Estimated basic processing cost including slaughter charge for a 170lb whole hog is $265.

Estimated basic processing cost including slaughter charge for a 220lb whole hog at is $330.

*The numbers/estimates above are for informational purposes only. Processing costs will fluctuate up or down depending on the size of the animal and any special cutting instructions customer requests. If order is cancelled on or within 30 calendar days before slaughter date a 10% processing fee of original order amount will be deducted from refund amount. A 15% processing fee of original order amount will be deducted from refund amount if order is cancelled within 30 days of slaughter date.  Item is non-returnable and non-refundable on or after the slaughter date.
