The price we charge is the maximum amount that you will pay Red 7 Ranch Ranch (R7R) directly for the animal and slaughter charge; this does not include custom processing. Customer will pay for the cost of processing directly to the processing location when picking up the meat.
A rough all in ESTIMATE for a half of beef with a hanging weight of 375lbs including standard processing is about $1,450. See details below for estimated amounts, yields, and examples. For clarification when purchasing a half of beef from R7R you are getting an entire side of beef; just like the animal was cut in half, lengthwise, from the head to the tail.
Animal/slaughter charges:
Our animals typically get slaughtered around 1300lbs live weight. A half of beef typically has a hanging weight of about 375lbs. Â The vast majority of our animals fall right around this number but a hanging weight for a half can range from 340-415lbs. A half of beef with a hanging weight of 375lbs typically results in about 200-220lbs of meat in your freezer; this includes everything from premium steaks to roasts and ground beef. The amount of finished meat and types of cuts will fluctuate/change depending on the cuts you choose and the size of the animal accordingly. Our price per pound (based on hanging weight) for a half of beef is $2.90/lb. This results in a cost of approximately $1,087.50 for the half of the animal itself. A half of beef has a flat rate slaughter charge in the amount of $100 regardless of size/weight. In total customer will pay R7R $1,185 for the animal and slaughter charges for a half of beef to then be custom processed.
Note: If animal has a hanging weight of LESS than 375lbs hanging weight then customer will be credited the difference at the rate of $2.90/lb hanging weight. If animal has a hanging weight of MORE than 385lbs customer will not owe R7R any additional amount directly but will pay the additional processing fees to processor (see processing section). Examples:
Hanging weight of 365lbs (less than 375lbs): 365lbs (hanging weight) x $2.90/lb = $1,058.50 + $100 slaughter charge = $1,158.50. Resulting in a credit to you of $26.5 from R7R. Processing charges are additional and are paid directly to the processor upon customer picking the meat up.
Hanging weight of 400lbs (greater than 375lbs): The total amount owed to HHR for the cost of the animal and slaughter charge would remain at $1,185. Processing charges are additional and are paid directly to the processor upon customer picking the meat up.
Processing:
Processing charge is NOT included in the amount owed/paid to Red 7 Ranch. Customer will determine and pay for processing directly to processor. Basic processing costs approximately $.70/lb hanging weight but does vary based on cutting selections. Customer will get a text or phone call directly from the processor approximately 5-8 business days after the slaughter date selected to gather cutting instructions. Meat will be processed and ready to pickup about 10-14 days after slaughter date selected. The processor will walk you through the selections over the phone; they do a great job with this and are very helpful so rest easy if you are new to this! Upon notification of processing completion customer will pickup the meat and pay processing charge directly to the processor when picking up their order. Total amount for animal and slaughter must be paid in full to R7R before meat can be picked up from processor.
Estimated basic processing cost for a 375lb half of beef at $.70/lb is $262.50.
Estimated basic processing cost for a 365lb half of beef at $.70/lb is $255.50.
Estimated basic processing cost for a 400lb half of beef at $.70/lb is $280.

If order is cancelled on or earlier than 30 calendar days before slaughter date a 10% processing fee of original order amount will be deducted from refund amount. A 15% processing fee of original order amount will be deducted from refund amount if order is cancelled within 30 days of slaughter date. Item is non-returnable and non-refundable on or after the slaughter date.
